Telefonica wins 28% less by the absence of gains

Telefonica million in 5596 won the first nine months of the year, 28.7% lower, drop is explained by the lower capital gains compared with the same period of 2007, when it sold its shares in Airwave and Endemol. In comparable terms, profit improved 23.5%. The operator, which maintains all its growth forecasts for 2008, reaffirmed its commitment to prioritize the remuneration to the shareholder with a policy of increasing dividends.

The company headed by Cesar Alierta earned revenues of 43,141 million, a 2.7% increase, with an advance of 5.7% in the third quarter. At the end of September, the company had 252 million hits, a 15.2% increase over September of the previous year, thanks to an increase of 19% in Mobile, from 24.5% in broadband and 54% on TV payment. By geographical areas, Spain contributed revenues of 15,706 million (1.6% more) and other Latin American 16,311 million, while Europe grew by 5.9%.
